    Behaviour Support.

    Susan has a thorough understanding that the behaviours we see are only the tip of the iceberg. Susan assists children and parents to identify what is triggering behaviours of concern and applies methods to support families in learning strategies for change. Susan uses her training and experience to write and implement behaviour support plans.

    Sensory Awareness Training.

    Sensory regulation is vital for all of us but is often very complex for children and adults who are autistic, have sensory processing issues, or multiple diagnoses. Behaviours of concern can result from children not having their sensory needs met. Susan supports children and parents to identify sensory needs. She collaborates with other health care workers to write sensory profiles and provide strategies to support children in the areas of vestibular, proprioception, tactile, auditory, visual, oral and olfactory sensory awareness. Susan incorporates yoga and mindfulness activities into her sessions to also enhance learning about sensory awareness.

    Communication.

    Susan has worked extensively with children who have a wide range of communication differences. She has a deep conviction that everyone has the right to have their voice heard, and works tirelessly to ensure they are provided with the tools to enable them to do that.

    Susan works with children who are non-verbal, children who have expressive and receptive language difficulties, and children who present with selective mutism.

    She supports children in their use of individual modes of communication such as AAC devices, and/or picture communication symbols.

    Susan also develops individualised visual resources to assist children in effectively communicating, particularly at times when they are less able to regulate themselves.
